Review Process
Peer Review Process
The peer-review process is an integral part of scholarly publishing and serves as a mechanism for validating submitted manuscripts. The quality of each manuscript is assessed prior to publication. Qualified reviewers with expertise in the relevant field independently evaluate the submitted manuscripts and provide comments and recommendations. This process assists the editors in determining whether a manuscript is suitable for publication in INTAN Jurnal Penelitian Tambang.
The key stages of the peer-review process are as follows:
-
Manuscripts submitted to the journal are initially screened by the editorial team to determine whether they meet the journal's scope and basic submission requirements.
-
Manuscripts that pass the initial editorial screening are sent to a minimum of two independent reviewers for further evaluation.
-
The reviewers independently assess the manuscript and provide recommendations to the journal editor regarding whether the manuscript should be accepted, revised, or rejected.
-
The journal editor evaluates the reviewers' comments and recommendations and makes the final editorial decision regarding the manuscript. The possible decisions include:
-
Accept Submission – The manuscript is accepted for publication without further revision.
-
Revision Required – The manuscript requires revision and does not need to be returned to the reviewers for further evaluation.
-
Resubmit for Review – The manuscript requires substantial revision and will be returned to the reviewers for further evaluation.
-
Resubmit Elsewhere – The manuscript is considered unsuitable for publication in the journal and is recommended for submission to another journal.
-
Reject Submission – The manuscript is rejected and will not be considered for publication.
-
See Reviewer Comments – The manuscript is not accepted based on the reviewers' comments and recommendations.
-
The peer-review process in scholarly journal publishing essentially functions as a quality-control mechanism, whereby experts evaluate manuscripts to help ensure the scientific quality and integrity of the articles published by the journal. However, reviewers do not make the final decision to accept or reject a manuscript. Instead, they provide recommendations to the editor. The final editorial decision rests solely with the journal editor or editorial board.
